Werder Bremen relegated from Bundesliga after 40 years

Werder Bremen were relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in 40 years after a disappointing season, Bremen lost their last game against Borussia Moenchengladbach 4-2 that shattered their dreams of survival in the league.

Their manager, Florian Kohfeldt was sacked last week due to the team’s horrible performance in the league. He was taken over by Thomas Schaaf as a caretaker coach. He said after the defeat, ” At this moment it’s hard to say anything, we didn’t manage to do what we wanted to do and we missed a huge opportunity to equalize which we needed, we fought back but it was too late. ”

Cologne’s 1-0 win over already-relegated Schalke made it sure that the Bremen side will be playing in the second tier of German football. Bremen were not able to take points from their last 10 games, they only managed to take one point in these 10 games and that thing destroyed their chances of survival in the Bundesliga. The fans and players would be disappointed by the team’s performance as they were not able to take the opportunities that were available to them.
