What Happened to Amanda Riley and Where is She Now?

Amanda Riley, known for faking a cancer diagnosis to scam people out of over $100,000 in donations, has become infamous for her fraudulent actions. Her story is detailed in the four-part documentary Scamanda, which explores how she successfully deceived others online.

After pleading guilty to wire fraud in October 2011, Riley was sentenced to five years in prison. She was ordered to pay restitution to the victims of her scam. Currently, Riley is serving her sentence at the Federal Medical Center Carswell in Ft. Worth, Texas. Her release date is set for December 4, 2025.

Riley’s legal troubles also extend to her personal life. In January 2024, her husband, Cory Riley, filed for divorce. Amanda Riley’s current inmate records indicate that she is now located at RRM Long Beach, a Residential Reentry Management field office. RRMs manage various categories of federal offenders, including those in home confinement or serving short- and long-term sentences.

Although it’s unclear under which specific category Riley falls, she is likely receiving assistance with her reentry into society. Upon her release, she will be under three years of supervision.
