In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bizarre new planets are frequently shown to us, and we may have just witnessed the strangest one yet.
In its 15-year history, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has brought to life some of the most thrilling and bizarre comic book locations, but the Guardians of the Galaxy films have always been a little stranger than the other MCU films. With the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we’ve just discovered a bizarre universe with walking, talking animals, which is a whole new level of crazy.
So, what exactly is Counter-Earth? Who created this planet, and what’s the point? And how does it impact the Marvel movie’s MCU characters? Spoilers for the newest film ahead
What is Counter-Earth in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
High Evolutionary created the ostensibly idyllic paradise of Counter-Earth, where he keeps his anthropomorphic test subjects. However, this society is a long way from being the utopian society that the High Evolutionary had in mind. On the streets of Counter-Earth, there is still crime, violence, and poverty even though many of the animal-human hybrids lead fairly normal lives.
No matter how hard individuals strive to improve, we all have weaknesses, which is a concept the Guardians of the Galaxy group deals with in the newest James Gunn film.
High Evolutionary realises his experiment has failed as we approach the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 finales, and the Marvel bad guy decides he must destroy everything in order to restart with the New Colony he is working on. Sadly, the people of Counter-Earth are included in the list of those who pass away in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
