What Is Kate Hudson, Drew Tarver’s Running Point About?

Kate Hudson is making her big return to the screen, this time teaming up with Netflix for the upcoming sports comedy series Running Point. Fans of the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star have been eagerly waiting for another hit, and with the trailer dropping last month, excitement is at an all-time high.

What is Running Point About?

This fresh take on the sports comedy genre follows Isla Gordon (played by Hudson), who suddenly finds herself at the helm of one of the most successful basketball teams in the league—the Los Angeles Waves.

The story kicks off with a major shake-up in the team’s leadership. After a tragic accident involving one of the team’s owners, Isla’s brother is forced to resign due to a massive scandal. With no other options left, Isla is handed the role of president—a position she never anticipated taking.

But stepping up to lead a high-profile professional basketball franchise is no easy feat. Isla must prove herself not only to her skeptical brothers and the team’s board of directors but also to the entire sports world, which doubts whether she has what it takes to run the show.

Hudson isn’t the only big name attached to Running Point. The series features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, and Jay Ellis.

Behind the scenes, the show is backed by Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International, in partnership with Warner Bros. Television. Acclaimed director James Ponsoldt is helming the first two episodes of the series, which will consist of 10 episodes in total.
