What is ‘Katy Perry’ doing now?

American singer, songwriter, and television personality Katy Perry was born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on October 25, 1984. She has been dubbed the “Queen of Camp” by Vogue and is well known for her influence on contemporary pop music as well as her campy appearance. At the age of 16, Perry decided to pursue a career in gospel music. In 2001, Red Hill Records published her debut album, Katy Hudson, which was not a financial success. At the age of 17, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in secular music. She eventually took on the stage name “Katy Perry” derived from her mother’s maiden name. Before joining with Capitol Records, she was booted from Columbia Records after recording an album there.

She gained notoriety with the pop rock album One of the Boys (2008), which featured the U.S. Billboard Hot 100’s number-one debut hit “I Kissed a Girl” and number-three follow-up single “Hot n Cold.” California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework, E.T., and Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) are among the five U.S. number one singles from the disco-influenced pop album Teenage Dream (2010), making it the only album by a female performer to achieve this feat. The U.S. number one single “Part of Me” came from the album Teenage Dream: The Full Confection, which was reissued in 2012. The songs “Roar” and “Dark Horse” from her empowerment-themed album Prism (2013) reached number one in the United States.

Perry became the first artist to have two videos with one billion views on Vevo thanks to each of their individual song videos. Her most recent pregnancy and experience with mental health were influences for the electropop album Smile (2020), while Witness (2017) incorporated feminist themes and a political undercurrent. She then started her Play concert residency in Las Vegas, which has been a critical and economic success since it began in 2021.

Around 143 million records have been sold globally by Perry, making him one of the most successful musicians of all time. Six billion Spotify streams have been made from all of her studio albums published under Capitol, which collectively have over one billion streams.

Perry recorded the country music duet “Where We Began” with Thomas Rhett for his album of the same name, which was released three months later. In May of that year, it was revealed Perry will voice the title character in Jeremy Zag’s animated musical film Melody and compose the soundtrack for it. In addition, she remixed the Just Eat jingle and changed the face of their advertising. On June 8, 2022, which was also designated as Katy Perry Day, Perry received the Key to Las Vegas.

With their GarageBand music programme, which allowed users to conduct “Remix Sessions” utilising her song, “Harleys in Hawaii,” Perry worked with the computer corporation Apple Inc. On the collaboration, Perry said: “The character “Harleys in Hawaii” has had a lot of different lives. This song has a tonne of potential for remixing, and I can’t wait to hear how GarageBand develops with this Apple collaboration.”
