WhatsApp adds biometric authentication to link accounts on desktop

WhatsApp users with biometric authentication enabled will have an additional layer of security in the event that they need to link their accounts with their PC’s internet browser or application.

The Facebook-claimed app declared on Twitter that the new component will turn out Thursday. The informing application has in excess of 2 billion clients now.

“Today we’re starting to roll out a new security feature for WhatsApp Web and Desktop: face and fingerprint unlock when linking devices. WhatsApp does not see your face or fingerprint data,” WhatsApp wrote on Twitter.

The user will have to confirm their identity using facial recognition or fingerprint on their phones when trying to login through their computers, and then scan the QR code.

The feature will be available to users with iPhones iOS 14 and greater with Touch ID or Face ID and Android users with Face Unlock, Fingerprint Unlock, or Iris Unlock enabled.
