WhatsApp Chat Lock feature will soon be available for web users; Here’s everythingh you need to know

WhatsApp is continually trying to improve the user experience and security. Lately, the messaging app was found testing the Chat Lock feature on its web version. The feature is already available on the smartphone version.

Recently, WABetaInfo shared details about a new WhatsApp update. According to the report, the “Chat Lock” icon will soon be added to the app’s web version. This icon, which looks like a little padlock, will be located in the app’s sidebar. You might be able to view your private chats or add new chats to the protected folder.

The anticipated locked chats will be placed on a separate tab, providing greater privacy and security for user conversations. The specific method for accessing this tab is unknown because the feature is currently in development. Speculation is that it may use a secret code allowing users to quietly conceal the tab.

“By implementing chat locking, users will be able to add an extra layer of security, especially in situations where they are using WhatsApp Web in close proximity to other people and wish to maintain privacy for specific conversations. In addition, we believe that WhatsApp establishes a consistent and standardized security feature across multiple devices and platforms by introducing this feature in the future, especially as these locked chats will be synchronized across all their platforms,” As per report.
