WhatsApp to roll out new Channel Alerts feature soon; Here’s everything you need to know

In June of this year, WhatsApp introduced its Instagram-like Channel features in India. For those who are unfamiliar, WhatsApp Channel is a one-way communication platform enabling administrators to send text messages, photographs, videos, stickers and polls. The company is in the process of creating a searchable directory to help users find channels that are useful to their interests.

This directory lets users explore channels related to their interests, sports teams, updates from local authorities and various other topics

According to an online report, WhatsApp is now rolling out alerts for WhatsApp Channels.

As per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has released the Channel Alerts feature for Android beta testers, which can be available in the app’s updated version 2.23.26.6.

Fullscreen PlayMute according to the report, the latest feature intends to improve channel users’ experiences by providing them with real-time information on the suspension of their channel. Channel administrators can use the Channel Alerts feature to get notifications about potential violations of WhatsApp’s policies. Additionally, administrators can seek a review of their suspension directly through the Channel Alerts screen.

The report also mentioned, “The introduction of a channel alerts feature adds a new layer of transparency to the platform. Users can discover if there are any issues with their channels, with the action to perform to address them. Additionally, we believe that users can now enjoy a larger view while scrolling down one of the available tabs, thanks to the automatic hiding of navigation labels and the top app bar: this approach aims to provide users with a larger view of their chats, call logs, community group chats, and channels.”
