A new trailer for When Evil Lurks, a new horror film starring Ezequiel Rodriguez, Demián Salomon, Silvia Sabater, Luis Ziembrowski, and Marcelo Michinaux, has been released by IFC Films and Shudder. The video depicts a small town’s inhabitants being haunted by a demonic force that at least one citizen of the community appears to have been possessed by.
What’s the story in When Evil Lurks?
According to Bloody Disgusting, the plot states, “A pair of brothers discover a mutilated corpse close to their property and gather with the locals to figure it out.” They quickly discover that the strange events in their community are the result of a ghost that has taken up residence in a local man while waiting for the correct procedures to purge his body of the festering demon. An escape attempt ensues as the film puts its heroes on edge, racing against approaching peril to shake the spirit’s merciless clutches.”
Along with the 2017 film Terrified, Rugna also directed the 2007 film The Last Gateway, the 2016 film You Don’t Know Who You’re Talking To, and the 2022 film Satanic Hispanics. Terrified will have a sequel written by Rugna and a remake produced by Guillermo del Toro for Searchlight Pictures.
When asked about When Evil Lurks, Rugna told Deadline, “Working with Shudder has been a wonderful and seamless experience. With the same objective in mind—to find new ways to frighten and startle people with a cutting-edge strategy and a compelling narrative—they gave me the creative freedom to direct freely.
