Mel Gibson is excited about his upcoming project, The Resurrection of the Christ, and is gearing up to start production next year. In a recent appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, the director shared his excitement and vision for the film. He revealed that he and his brother took seven years to craft the script, and now they’re ready to bring it to life.
Gibson explained that making this movie is no small feat, describing the process as an “acid trip” due to the complex, out-of-this-world nature of the story. He added that while the script is intense, it has a unique, never-before-seen quality. According to Gibson, the film will explore profound themes and concepts, such as the fall of the angels and journeys to realms like hell and Sheol, to give a fuller picture of the resurrection story.
For the cast, Gibson plans to bring back Jim Caviezel to reprise his role as Jesus Christ, a role Caviezel originally portrayed in The Passion of the Christ. To maintain accuracy with the Bible’s description of Jesus being resurrected three times, Gibson plans to use advanced technology and CGI to de-age Caviezel for the role.
Gibson describes the project as “very ambitious,” promising that the movie will offer a captivating narrative, making it one to keep an eye on. The film’s unique approach, paired with groundbreaking technology, is set to make it a visually stunning experience.
