The Warlord Chronicles novel series by Bernard Cornwell served as the inspiration for the film The Winter King, which recently debuted. In the novel, Mordred, the High King’s only heir, assumes the throne following Uther’s death and Arthur returns. As threats arise in the British kingdoms and the Saxons prepare to invade, Arthur adopts the position of caretaker and rules in his nephew’s stead.
The Winter King Plot
Arthur must bring a divided land together and prevent their adversary from toppling them. But as he deals with this issue, he must also deal with emotional issues. According to the tale, his relationship with Guinevere is doomed, yet it is still a love story. It remains to be seen, though, if Merlin’s old-fashioned wizardry will be sufficient to tip the scales in Arthur’s favour.
The plot of the series will be similar, with Arthur making his way back to the realm after being exiled. His familiar country has been destabilised. If he wants to put a stop to the problems facing his country, he will need the assistance of his closest friends.
Where can we see The Winter King?
Sunday, Aug. 20, saw The Winter King’s television series debut. Since it’s an MGM+ original, you’ll need to be a member of the service to watch it on a weekly basis. On the service right now, the first episode can be watched without charge. The monthly plan for MGM+ costs $5.99 per month if you don’t already have a membership.

There are ten episodes in all. The existence of a second season of the show is unknown.
When will The Winter King be released?
New episodes of The Winter King will air on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET for the first six episodes. As you can see from the schedule below, the show will take a little break through the first two weeks of September before resuming the release of new episodes. The release timing will alter to 10 p.m. ET on October 15.
