Which team is doing well in IPL 2021? Let’s find out

The Indian Premier League 2021 has been nothing sort of a wild ride. Talks about canceling the season due to the pandemic, and coming to a halt in between made the IPL 2021 somewhat of a question mark. Fortunately for the teams and the fans, the second phase took off. So, which teams are faring well in this thrilling ride? Which team hasn’t been at their best?

Here is the team-by-team analysis from the IPL 2021 news season.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

The current leader of the pack is CSK. This team led by Captain Cool has surpassed Delhi Capitals on the points table.  They have a total NNR of +1.069 and have 16 points on the ranking table. Their last win against KKR has put them in the first position; although both DC and CSK have won the same number of matches and both have 16 points on the chart, their higher Net run rate has put them as the leader in the ranking table. Interestingly, their next match is against Delhi Capitals. What a game that is going to be! We can’t wait!

Delhi Capitals (DC):

Delhi Capitals are at the second position where CSK managed to take away their leading position after their last win against KKR.

Delhi has 16 points on the table after winning eight games out of 10. DC has been doing fantastic in the IPL 2021 with the aid of the dynamic duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. DC’s current net rune rate is +0.711, just below Chennai Super Kings. But when Prithvi Shaw was replaced by Australian Steve Smith, DC lost the next game to KKR. That’s why you should never change a winning combination!

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):

The team led by the ace skipper Virat Kohli stands at the third position in the ranking table with 10 points. They were victorious in 6 matches out of 10. After facing two consecutive defeats against Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders, they won their last game against Mumbai Indians, and how! Bowler Harshal Patel took a staggering four wickets, Yuzvendra Chahal took 3 and Maxwell added to the victory with his amazing runs, great bowling, and excellent fielding. Virat also pulled his 10,000 runs in T20 matches on the same day,a big day for RCB. RCB is in a good place right now! Let’s see where the next game will lead them to.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):

Kolkata Knight Riders have played ten matches so far in the IPL 2021, out of which they have managed to win 4. KKR stands at fourth place in the Indian Premier League 2021 and has 10 points on the table. KKR’s last match was with DC which they won convincingly. KKR have managed to beat the big guns, RCB and MI in the second phase, and were beaten by CSK in a close game. They are proving to be the giant killers in IPL.Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Punjab Kings is in 7th position just above Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are at the bottom of the pile. PBKS has won 4 out of 10 matches, but their net run rate being -0.345 has put them in this position. They won their last game against SRH, and their problems have increased after being beaten by the Mumbai Indians on 28th September 2021. Will this IPL team be able to climb up in the ranking table? The chances are slim!

Rajasthan Royals (RR):

Rajasthan Royals stands at the sixth position with 8 points in the ranking table. They have won 4 matches out of the 10 that they have played. They also lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, Sanju Samson scored a blazing half-century and has managed to grab the orange cap from Shikhar Dhawan. But even this knock couldn’t make the team victorious. Their upcoming match will be with Royal Bangalore Challengers on 29th September 2021.

Mumbai Indians (MI):

Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, is in 5th position with 10 points. They have won 5 matches out of 10. They produced a stunning display to beat the Punjab Kings when it mattered the most on 28th September 2021.

Will the defending champion turn around the game, or will we see a new winner? For them to win the IPL, they have to enter the playoffs first, which is difficult but not impossible for a champion team like MI.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):

Sadly, the Orange army hasn’t been doing well this IPL 2021 season. They rank the lowest with only 4 points. The team has managed to win only 2 out of the 10 matches that they have played. Although they did pretty well in their last game against Rajasthan Royals, their ranking hasn’t improved. SRH defeated RR by a staggering seven wickets, which is an impressive feat. However, the consecutive loss in 5 earlier matches didn’t help the team climb up the ladder. Kane Williamson’s team has a lot to prove in their upcoming games. But mostly, they willbe playing to salvage their pride as qualifying for the playoffs looks tough now.

Here is the list of the team rankings with their Net Run Rate in IPL cricket 2021 rank.

1. Chennai Super Kings – 16 points from 10 matches with +1.069 NRR

2. Delhi Capitals – 16 points from 11 matches with +0.711 NRR
