Will Smith shares first reaction to Jada Pinkett Smith’s tell-all memoir

Will Smith recently opened up about the shocking disclosures in Jada Pinkett Smith’s tell-all memoir Worthy. Jada’s latest statements on their marriage have made news in recent days. According to Page Six, the Oscar winner stated that Jada’s revelations ‘kind of woke [him] up,’ from a sort of ’emotional blindness’ that he had developed over the years.

As reported by Page Six, Will Smith has responded to estranged wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shocking claims in an email to the New York Times. The actor stated, “When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”

He also stated that the revelations in the memoir “woke him up,” and that he realized she is “more resilient, clever and compassionate than he’d understood.”

Will’s statements come after Jada disclosed that they had been quietly separated for seven years. A couple of days ago, in an interaction with NBC News special with Hoda Kotb, Jada said, “I think by the time we got to 2016 we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be. I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. I just haven’t been able to break that promise.” She also said that Chris Rock had asked her out on a date while she was still married to Will Smith.
