William Gibson’s Neuromancer coming to Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is working on a series based on William Gibson’s iconic cyberpunk novel Neuromancer, as per reports. The plot revolves around a hacker in a futuristic dystopian city who is on the run from debt collectors and is hired by an unknown individual to work on a secret mission.

The novel 1984 is widely regarded as one of the most significant pieces of literature in the cyberpunk genre. Filmmakers have frequently credited the novel as an inspiration, especially The Wachowskis, who claimed Neuromancer as one of their primary inspirations for their Matrix movies.

Miles Teller, well known for his roles in Whiplash and Top Gun: Maverick, is reportedly in talks to portray the series lead. Graham Roland, who has written episodes for blockbuster series such as Lost, Fringe and Prison Break, is listed as the show’s creator and writer. Along with author William Gibson, he serves as the show’s executive producer.

The series’ creators have yet to affirm a release date, however, it has been announced that production will begin in the summer of 2023.
