Thierry Delaporte, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wipro Ltd. earned $8.8 million (₹64.3 crore) in the financial year 2020-21, making him the highest paid CEO of the IT sector.
Meanwhile, for the same year, the CEO of Infosys Salil Parekh received a total compensation of about $6.78 million (₹49.68 crore) and the CEO of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services company, brought in around $2.8 million (₹20.3 crore), as per the latest annual reports of the respective companies.
According to a regulatory filing, the compensation of Thierry Delaporte, who was appointed as the CEO in July 2020 included a salary of ₹9.6 crore, commission of ₹11.2 crore, a long term compensation of ₹5.5 crore and ₹37.81 crore as other income. His annual package was announced to be ₹37.9 crore along with stock compensation and other benefits.
On Thursday, Wipro stated in its SEC filing, “The compensation disclosed for Mr. Thierry Delaporte is for the period from July 6, 2020 to March 31, 2021. It includes components such as a one-time cash award, annual stock grant and one-time grant of RSUs (Restricted Stock Unit), among other things, as per the terms approved by the shareholders at the Annual General Meeting of the Shareholders in July 2020”.
Before he took charge as the CEO of Wipro last year, he was the Chief Operating Officer at French IT services giant Capgemini.
Wipro’s Chairman Rishad Premji’s total remuneration for FY21 was $1.6 million (₹11.76 crore). His earning rose by 136% compared to the previous fiscal. Meanwhile, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jatin Dalal received $1.02 million (₹7.43 crore).
