Woman JDU district head thrashed, forced to wear garland of slippers, and paraded through the streets

After arguing with a fellow party member about not receiving an invitation to an occasion, the district head of the ruling Janata Dal United women’s cell in Bihar was beaten and humiliated by being walked around with slippers around her neck.

The woman reportedly required hospitalisation after being severely battered by her JDU coworker, a ward councillor, and his supporters. A video of the incident has gone viral, and the ward councillor has been placed under arrest. According to police officials, a JDU programme was held on Wednesday in the Bairgania block of the Sitamarhi district; however, Kamini Patel, the district president of the party’s women’s cell, was not invited. This sparked a lot of conversation on Facebook, and Ms. Patel and a few other people posted some comments.

When Ms. Patel arrived at Ward Councillor Sanjay Singh’s home on Thursday morning to discuss the matter, a furious dispute started between them. Officials stated that Ms. Patel was then encircled and physically assaulted by the supporters of the ward councillor. Then, after being called a thief and forced to wear a garland of slippers, she was paraded through the streets close to the home of the ward councillor.

Videos revealed Ms. Patel wearing slippers around her neck, with bruises all over her body and a swollen face. She was brought unconscious to a nearby hospital and subsequently directed to a medical centre located in Muzaffarpur. Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Sitamarhi’s superintendent of police, declared, “We have taken action, and Ward Councillor Sanjay Singh has been taken into custody. There seems to be a disagreement regarding certain statements posted on Facebook.”
