Wonka’s trailer starring Timothèe Chalamet just got released; Watch now

The trailer of Wonka just got released.

Here, Timothèe Chalamet will be potraying the absolute opposite of Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Two—Willy Wonka in a precursor to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It features Timothee Chalamet’s Wonka attempting to become a master chocolatier while overcoming obstacles including a chocolate cartel and fines for daydreaming. The role is widely associated with Gene Wilder, who played Willy Wonka in the original film adaption from 1971 and passed away in 2016.

Chalamet is an intriguing part of the film. In 2005, Tim Burton also made an attempt to adapt the book, with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. Hugh Grant plays an Oompa Loompa in it, along with Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, and Olivia Colman.

Paul King, who is most known for writing and directing both Paddington films, is helming the new prequel movie, which seems like it will adhere to the original movie more closely. King remarked of Wonka’s visual style in an interview with Entertainment Weekly: “I didn’t want to reinvent those things because it felt like that ’71 movie had come up with these incredibly enduring, iconic looks.”

The movie releases on December 15th.
