Yami Gautam Dhar is soaking in the love pouring in for her latest release Haq, a film that has not only impressed critics but also touched audiences on a deeply emotional level. Inspired by the real-life Shah Bano case, the movie’s powerful story and Yami’s commanding performance have sparked online chatter about a possible National Award. But for Yami, the true victory lies in the hearts of the audience.
The actor shared how women have been approaching her after screenings, moved to tears by her portrayal. “Many came up to me saying they saw themselves in my character. Some even kissed my hand, telling me how empowered they felt after watching Haq. That kind of response stays with you forever,” she said.
Yami explained that while awards are special, nothing compares to genuine audience connection. “Validation, for me, is when people look at you with honesty and emotion. When you can feel their words and see how much your work means to them, that’s the biggest reward,” she added.
Amid Haq’s success, there’s another reason to celebrate in the Gautam-Dhar household. Yami’s husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar, is being lauded for his latest production Baramulla. Expressing pride in his journey, Yami said, “Aditya has faced his own share of challenges, but his honesty and integrity make me respect him even more not just as a husband, but as an artist.”
