Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor remain one of Bollywood’s most discussed former couples, both for their off-screen history and their strong on-screen chemistry. Years after their break-up, the two came together for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), a film that went on to become a cult romantic drama. Now, actor Naveen Kaushik, who featured in the film, has shared rare insights into what it was really like working with the duo during that phase.
Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Naveen, who played Sumer in the Ayan Mukerji directorial revealed that the atmosphere on set was far from awkward. He admitted that many on the crew expected tension or drama, given that it was Ranbir and Deepika’s first collaboration after their split. However, those expectations never materialised. According to Naveen, both actors maintained complete professionalism throughout the shoot.
The actor recalled that filming Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was physically demanding due to difficult mountain locations rather than long hours. Despite the strenuous conditions, the set environment remained positive, with regular cast and crew gatherings.
Naveen also praised Deepika’s discipline and punctuality, calling her one of the most professional actors he has worked with. Sharing his experience with Ranbir, Naveen said the actor treated him like family, never letting stardom affect his behaviour.
On the personal front, Ranbir is married to Alia Bhatt and is a father to daughter Raha, while Deepika and Ranveer Singh welcomed their daughter Dua in 2024. Meanwhile, fans continue to hope for another Deepika-Ranbir romantic film together.
