Youri Tielemans to Liverpool rumours amidst departure of Gini Wijnaldum

Liverpool will have to make some significant moves during the summer transfer window. The Reds must act quickly or risk repeating this season’s tragedy.

Many prospective options, including those with Premier League experiences like Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yves Bissouma and Sheffield United’s Sander Berge, have been suggested in recent months.

However, one contender, in particular, appears to have piqued the interest of the public in recent days: Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans. Amidst the news of Wijnaldum leaving, Youri Tielemans has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Liverpool are interested in Youri Tielemans, according to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. According to the tabloid, the Leicester City midfielder has made the Reds’ shortlist of targets after another brilliant season.

The Belgian international appeared 51 times for City this season, scoring nine goals and assisting on six others. Following the season’s last encounter against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, he was named both player and players’ player of the season.

And former Belgian international Geert De Vlieger has predicted that the midfielder will leave the club sooner rather than later.

“Tielemans is going to leave Leicester City anyway,” he said

“If not this year, then next year. Leicester should hope that he stays another year, but Youri is now so far that he is ready for an absolute top club.”

Who knows, if ‘The New Lampard’ comes to Liverpool and stays long enough, he might even get to play under Gerrard, but let’s stop there since we’re in danger of getting ahead of ourselves.
