Disney’s Zootopia 2 surpassed Avengers: Endgame to sell $104 million worth of tickets in China in a single day. According to Deadline, the animated buddy cop comedy directed by Jared Bush is now predicted to make at least $525 million at the box office globally on Sunday.
Zootopia 2 had the best start for a US picture since 2021 and is now the largest studio film of the year in China, where Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde’s reappearance is a success. It tops Avengers: Endgame for the largest single-day gross for a Hollywood movie in the market in local currency, and its incredible Saturday total is a staggering 160% increase over Friday.
Zootopia 2 topped the list of Friday Europe openers, with the exception of the UK, where Wicked: For Good still enthrals audiences. After Moana and Frozen 2, the movie had the third-highest opening day for Walt Disney Animation Studios and the biggest animation opening day of 2025. Variety was informed by co-directors Jared Bush and Byron Howard that Zootopia 2 attempted to honour great horror films like The Shining and The Silence of the Lambs.
“We had this idea of these lynxes that were obviously the villains, and it made sense to have this grand manor, and then this giant maze in the back of it,” stated Bush. Additionally, Bush praised Michael Giacchino’s appropriate score.
On November 26, 2025, Zootopia 2 was released in the US after making its debut on November 13, 2025, at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Shakira, Idris Elba, Alan Tudyk, Nate Torrence, Don Lake, Bonnie Hunt, and Jenny Slate are among the cast members of this Zootopia (2016) sequel. It centres on Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, who go undercover to track down Gary De’Snake, a mysterious newcomer to Zootopia.
