10 dead in a car-truck collision in Gujarat

On Wednesday in Gujarat’s Anand district, ten people were killed after their car had been collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Indranaj Village in the morning.

Tarapur police station official said that the accident had taken place on a state highway connecting Tarapur in Anand district to Vataman in Ahmedabad district.

He mentioned that 10 people were travelling in the car, including a child, which was hit by a speeding truck. All the people travelling in the car were found dead on the spot.

It was said that the car was going t Vataman, whereas the truck was travelling from the opposite direction.

Efforts were made to get the bodies out of the mangled remains of the car and to identify the deceased, said the official.

No sights of the truck driver had been mentioned as of so far, the matter should be deeply looked into after the identity of the deceased are revealed.

The leading cause of death among people in the 5-29 age group worldwide is road accidents.

India is accounted for over 5 lakh road accidents annually, which is one of the highest in the world, out of which over 1.5 lakh people die and the remaining become crippled.
