Kylian Mbappe has not been linked to any club since his failed transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, until now. According to a report from the Spanish news site MARCA, Liverpool could take part in a bidding battle with Real Madrid to get the French superstar. Mbappe had previously stated his desire to play for Real Madrid, but he chose to stay at PSG, signing a 2 year contract extension until 2024 with the option to extend for another year. However, PSG’s previous Champions League losses led to Mbappe not triggering his contract extension, sparking transfer rumours again.
The English club, as reported by MARCA, is willing to spend more than $300 million for the French superstar. Jurgen Klopp has always been open about his admiration for Mbappe and his desire to sign him, but the costs were too much for the club to manage at the time. Liverpool appears to have figured out how to generate the transfer fee and Madrid’s recent signing of Jude Bellingham for a fee of $100 million puts the Spanish club on the backfoot i in their pursuit of Mbappe.
“They told me that they were very angry. The Emir is very upset,” FIFA agent Marco Kirdermir told MARCA. According to the same report, the Qatari-owned club wasn’t happy with the Frenchman’s decision since it put the club in an awkward situation. Kylian’s owners were sure that he would renew for another year.
