Lionel Messi continues to outperform the rest of the players in America, scoring another double in the Leagues Cup, a competition including teams from Major League Soccer and Liga MX. He scored a brace against Orlando City FC to give Inter Miami five goals in three games.
The first goal was set up by Robert Taylor, who cut inside early and chipped the ball over the defence, allowing Messi to score easily with his left foot.

The second goal was likewise similar as Messi got the ball from halfway and sent it to Taylor, who crossed it to attacker Josep Martinez. The attacker then took hold of the ball and chipped it to Messi, who easily finished it.

He now has 5 goals and one assist in just three games, having scored against Cruz Azul and twice against Atalanta United.
Messi has taken America by storm after joining David Beckham’s Inter Miami after leaving European football. It is not just Messi who made the move, former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have also left European football when their contracts with FC Barcelona expired.
Following their victory against Orlando City, Messi’s Inter Miami will face FC Dallas in the Round of 16, which will be decided on August 6, 2023.
