As India gears up to face Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A clash in Dubai, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli, who is on the brink of multiple historic milestones in ODI cricket.
Kohli set to become the fastest to 14,000 ODI runs
The Indian batting maestro is just 37 runs away from joining the elite 14,000-run club in ODIs, a feat previously achieved only by Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs) and Kumar Sangakkara (14,234 runs). Notably, Kohli is poised to become the fastest to the milestone, surpassing both Tendulkar (350 innings) and Sangakkara (378 innings).
Kohli inches closer to 1,000 ODI runs vs Bangladesh
Beyond the 14k landmark, Kohli is also 90 runs short of becoming the first Indian batter to score 1,000 runs against Bangladesh in ODIs. With 910 runs in 16 innings at a stellar average of 75.83 and a strike rate of 101.78, Kohli has already notched five centuries and three fifties against the Tigers.
The only other Indian batter close to this record is Rohit Sharma, who has 786 runs in 17 innings at an average of 56.14, with three centuries and three half-centuries. If Kohli reaches the 1,000-run milestone, he will become only the seventh batter in ODI history to achieve the feat against Bangladesh.
