Few would have predicted, given Cavani’s age, that he would go on to play an important role in the club’s long-term recovery when he arrived at Old Trafford last summer. His impact, despite being limited by injuries, has been quietly outstanding. Cavani has only appeared in 12 Premier League games for United this season, but he has contributed 11 goals.
His last goal came against Aston Villa yesterday when he came on as a substitute and headed in a beautiful cross by Marcus Rashford.
The Uruguayan signed a one-year deal at Old Trafford when he joined from PSG and whilst the club has the option of a second year. Cavani wanted to move to South America and continue his career. However, it seems as if Ole was able to convince him to stay for at least one another season.
Considering the current form, Cavani is a great asset to Manchester United and this seems like a deal both parties can benefit from. It seems unlikely that United will go for a striker this transfer window considering the contract extension.
Manchester United play Leicester City tomorrow, a clash that can have a huge impact on the top 4 battles.
Edinson Cavani has signed until June 2022 with Manchester United, one more season. Official announcement expected in the next days but the deal is done and completed. Here-we-go ⏳🚨 #MUFC
