Mauricio Pochettino’s homecoming will not persuade Harry Kane to reconsider quitting Tottenham

Harry Kane is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, even if Mauricio Pochettino’s re-appointment as the manager is successful. Kane, 27, notified the chairman, Daniel Levy, of his wish to leave and believes they had a verbal agreement from last summer that he will be permitted to do so, despite the fact that he has three years left on his contract.

Kane, England’s captain, evolved as one of the world’s top attackers at Tottenham under Pochettino, who was in charge from 2014 until his dismissal in November 2019.

Pochettino is said to be interested in returning to Spurs after experiencing political infighting since joining Paris Saint-Germain on an 18-month contract in January. Real Madrid is also interested in bringing in Pochettino as Zinedine Zidane has resigned from his post at Real Madrid. Antonio Conte is also an option for Real Madrid as he left Inter Milan because of disagreements with the board.

Kane’s six-year deal expires in three years, giving Levy the authority to demand an exorbitant amount for him. Kane has had a fantastic season on a personal level. With 22 goals and 13 assists, he is the Premier League’s joint best scorer and assists maker. But the team glory he seeks remains elusive, with Spurs currently sixth in the league and having lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City.

Manchester City and Manchester United are front-runners for Kane, with Chelsea eyeing Romelu Lukaku and Haaland. Kane’s focus is now on the Euros.  Kane is desperate to lead the country to glory at the delayed Euro 2020, which kicks off on 11th June.
