Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani become richest businesspersons in Asia

The billionaires have surpassed China’s billionaires and tech magnates like Jack Ma and Zhong Shanshan, becoming the wealthiest businesspersons in Asia.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index data, Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani’s wealth has soared over $84 billion. In 2021 alone, his wealth has increased by $7.62 billion. The founder of Adani Group, Gautam Adani has added $77 billion to his wealth, registering a spike of $43.2 billion in 2021 thus far.

The billionaires have surpassed China’s billionaires and tech magnates like Jack Ma and Zhong Shanshan, becoming the wealthiest businesspersons in Asia.

As per the index, Ambani and Adani are the 12th and 14th richest people on the planet respectively. Both billionaires have received a boost from stock rallies. The shares of RIL have risen up by 12 per cent to ₹2,215.80 year-to-date. Until now in 2021, Nifty50 Index has jumped to 13 per cent. Meanwhile, Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Ltd. (RIIL) and Network 18 Media & Investments have surged between 40 and 45 per cent. Adani Power has advanced 200 percent, followed by Adani Ports at 74 percent and Adani Green at 17 percent.

Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos, the richest person, has a net worth of $194 billion. The Chief Executive of LVMH, Bernard Arnault has ranked second in the list having riches worth $173 billion. He is followed by Tesla Motor’s CEO, Elon Mask ($169 billion). The richest Chinese person on the list is Zhong Shanshan, the founder and chairperson of the Nongfu Spring beverage company and owner of Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy Enterprise.
