Many members of the India Under 19 team, including skipper Yash Dhull and vice-captain SK Rasheed, have been tested positive for Covid-19 and have been isolated. Half a dozen players have been tested positive but luckily for the Indian team, the International Cricket Council has allowed a 17-member squad for the tournament. Aaradhya Yadav, Manav Parakh, Siddarth Yadav and Vasu Vats are also in isolation apart from Dhull and Rasheed.
Vats and Parakh are waiting for their RT-PCR test results but their Rapid Antigen Test results have returned negative.
“We understand that some players have come in close contact with Covid positive players and as a measure of precaution the players have been isolated. The fact that they are playing Ireland has helped the team management. The team wants to avoid risk ahead of the bigger games,” said a source.
