After two days of gap, petrol and diesel prices surge again

Petrol and diesel rates across the country have been revised upwards by 28-29 paise on Friday.

On Friday, the fuel prices rose again in different parts of the country. After two consecutive days of constant price, today the fuel price rose by 28-29 paise.

In Delhi the price of petrol reached Rs.95.85 per litre and diesel reached Rs.86.75 per litre, whereas in the financial capital Mumbai the petrol price touched Rs.102 per litre and diesel price touched Rs. 94 per litre.

The opposition Congress party held a nationwide protest against the constant fuel price hike on Friday. Congress President of Rajasthan, Mr.Govind Singh Dotasra said, because of the wrong policies an inflation in price has become uncontrollable in the country and the rate of all essential commodities, including petrol, diesel and cooking gas, are increasing at a remarkable rate.

He also added that, price of crude oil in the international market in April 2014 was USD 108 per barrel and the price of petrol in the country was Rs.71 per litre and diesel Rs.57 per litre. However, in June 2021, despite the price of crude oil being USD 61 per barrel, the price of petrol have rose up to Rs.102.82 per litre and diesel Rs.95.96 per litre.

Before this the surge in fuel prices have never been seen before in such high numbers in major cities of the country. The highest hike in the retail price of petrol in the country had gone up to Rs.106 per litre and that of diesel was just over Rs.99 per litre.
