Ahoi Ashtami 2024: Know the Timing, Puja Muhurat, and Rituals

Some families break their fast when they see the moon. The event, which falls roughly eight days before Diwali, is widely celebrated in North India with tremendous excitement. The modern Ahoi Ashtami vrat is observed for both boys and daughters, whereas it was previously observed for the longevity and well-being of sons only.

  • At the site of worship, there is also a water-filled Karwa and Kalash. Ahoi Mata is offered a garland of silver beads for puja, roli, kumkum, mouli, and chandan.

  • Grain offerings are made, along with prasad consisting of puri, halwa, and chana. There should be eight different food items.
