Al-Hilal signs Brazilian forward Neymar from Paris St Germain; Reports

Paris Saint-Germain has agreed to sell Brazilian striker Neymar to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal for a fee reported to be about 90 million euros (£77.6 million) plus add-ons.

The transfer is subject to the 31-year-old completing a medical and submitting every necessary paperwork.

Neymar, who joined PSG in 2017 for a world record fee of 222 million euros, was left out of the team for Saturday’s Ligue 1 match against Lorient. He was not in coach Luis Enrique’s plans for the upcoming season.

His departure also fits with PSG’s aim of moving away from the ‘Galacticos’ era of signing high-profile players for big fees and high wages.

Neymar was rumoured to get around €25 million ($21.6 million) per year playing for France. He has made 173 appearances for PSG, where he has helped the team win 13 trophies, including 5 Ligue 1 titles.

However, his time in Paris has been afflicted by a series of ankle injuries. The former Barcelona star underwent surgery in March, causing him to miss the remainder of the season and he only returned to training in July.

He was injured in Brazil’s first group match and missed 2 of the country’s World Cup matches in 2022.

Neymar also missed the 2019 Copa America due to torn ligaments in his right ankle and was out for several weeks in 2021 with a similar injury.
