While the OTT space continues to evolve, actor Anchal G Singh is busier than ever. With two of her most acclaimed shows Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein and Undekhi set to return with new seasons, Anchal finds herself both reflective and excited. “I didn’t expect that kind of love when I first signed on for them. I’ve been very lucky,” she says, looking back at the shows that helped her explore complex emotional and psychological layers as a performer.
At the same time, the actor is also gearing up for her next big-screen outing, a suspense thriller opposite Darshan Kumar. Speaking about the upcoming project, she shares, “Yes, my next is alongside Darshan. It’s a very layered character… It’s unlike anything I’ve done before, and that’s what drew me to it.”
Known for her careful choice of roles, Anchal explains her approach: “For me, it’s never been about quantity. I’d rather do something meaningful where I help move the story forward.” Passionate about storytelling, she adds, “I want to do more work and be remembered, but for the right reasons.”
Despite being approached for various roles, she notes that some in the industry are still waiting to see what she does next. She’s also honest about the growing influence of social media in casting decisions. “I understand the business side of it. Some people look at numbers and think followers equal viewership. But that’s not always the case. A high follower count doesn’t guarantee an audience.”
As for whether the OTT wave has peaked, Anchal remains optimistic. “I think there’s still a lot of space for great stories. Maybe actors are just getting more selective, and that’s not a bad thing. We’ve seen the boom; now it’s about choosing the right scripts. Content is still king,” she signs off, leaving little doubt that she’s here to stay on her own terms.
