Argentina midfielder Alejandro Garnacho opens up on how Lionel Messi’s teammates treat Cristiano Ronaldo fan Alejandro Garnacho

Rio Ferdinand recently sparked controversy between Alejandro Garnacho and Lionel Messi, saying that the Inter Miami star unfollowed the youngster because he loved Cristiano Ronaldo. Garnacho has already said that he is a Ronaldo fan, but Ferdinand’s statement added some spice to it.

After Garnacho’s bicycle kick goal against Everton in November of last year, when United won 3-0 at Goodison Park, the claim got more attention. Garnacho’s brother slammed Ferdinand on social media, saying that Messi never followed his countryman and that it was a lie. Also, he called Garnacho a fan of both players and asked Ferdinand to stop spreading lies.

In a recent interaction with DSports, Leandro Paredes, an Argentine midfielder, talked about Garnacho’s relationship with the national team and stated that it’s normal for him to be a fan of Ronaldo. He said, “We joked about it with him. He is very shy and does not answer. Poor guy, we drove him crazy. We also talked to him about what the group is, somehow we try to make them feel part of it and feel comfortable. Although in this case he got very nervous and couldn’t talk.”

He also added, “But as he said, I think he is his idol, he always followed him a lot and he plays quite similar. So it’s normal, nothing happens. Obviously, when he comes to the national team he has to change a little bit because there is ours.”
