Mikel Arteta has been in pursuit of the midfielder for quite some time now and will be happy with the player’s successful signing.

The club spent a significant amount of money to get the midfielder into their squad, making the 24-year-old a British record signing for a fee of roughly 105 million Euros.

Arsenal fought for the Premier League title in the recently concluded season before finally running out of speed in the latter stages of the season,  hampered by injuries and fatigue as the season moved on.

In a historic season that saw the blue side from Manchester win a treble, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City capitalised on Arsenal’s dropped points towards the end of the season in order to overcome a deficit and defend the Premier League title.

Arsenal has been quite busy in the current transfer window as Arteta seeks to begin yet another title challenge, although this time he will hope for as the Gunners manager looks to topple his former mentor’s reign at the helm of the PL.
