Arsenal’s offer for Albert Sambi Lokonga rejected by Anderlecht

Arsenal’s recent bid for Lokonga has been rejected by Anderlecht.

Arsenal has reportedly made an offer for Albert Sambi Lokonga in the region of €10 million to €15 million which has been rejected by Anderlecht.  Anderlecht has put an asking price of €20 million on the Lokonga and has reportedly rejected Arsenal’s first offer as it falls short of their valuations for the player.

The Gunners look to strengthen and complete an overhaul of their midfield as Granit Xhaka has been linked with a move to AS Roma where he is said to be Jose Mourinho’s priority signing. Dani Ceballos has also returned to Real Madrid after spending an underwhelming season on loan at Arsenal who has chosen to not make an offer for the Spanish midfielder. Matteo Guendouzi is also being linked with a move back to France with Marseille keen to sign the French midfielder on a permanent transfer. Lucas Torreira has also publicly stated his intentions to leave Arsenal, with several Italian clubs interested in the Uruguayan midfielder.

Arsenal is also keen to permanently sign Martin Odegaard who impressed on loan from Real Madrid at Arsenal. But this will prove to be difficult considering Real Madrid’s asking price for the Norwegian and the assurances given to Odegaard by new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti regarding playing time.

Sambi Lokonga has two years left on his current contract with Anderlecht and is keen on leaving the Belgian club for greener pastures as he wants to progress his career. Along with Arsenal, a few other Spanish and French clubs have been linked to the player. His performances this season in the Belgium First Division A earned him a call up to the Belgium squad’s standby list for Euro 2020.
