With immediate effect, Italian club AS Roma cut ties with manager Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff. Roma is now in 9th place in Serie A after failing to live up to expectations this season.
“We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club,” said Dan and Ryan Friedkin.
“We will always have great memories of his tenure at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club. We wish José and his assistants all the best in their future endeavours,” AS Roma stated.
AS Roma can confirm that José Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect.
Further updates on the new First Team coaching staff will follow imminently.

After taking over as manager of Roma in May 2021, Mourinho led the team to the Conference League title in Tirana in 2022 and the Europa League final in Budapest last season.
Roma said that they will shortly provide an update on the new First Team coaching staff.
The club recently faced a humiliating defeat to AC Milan in Serie A, which was the final nail in the coffin for the club’s decision to cut ties with Mourinho. In Sunday’s 3-1 victory against struggling Roma, AC Milan strengthened their place in Serie A’s Champions League positions.
