Blackpink’s Jennie makes history as Solo becomes first music video by female K-Pop soloist to hit 1 billion views on YouTube

BLACKPINK’s Jennie has never shied away from being a trendsetter. The South Korean rapper earned her well-deserved title on YouTube records, setting a new benchmark with 1 billion views. She is now the first female K-pop solo artist to accomplish this milestone and it’s almost poetic that her Solo music video did the unthinkable.

In 2018, Jennie made her YouTube debut as a soloist, along with the release of the Solo MV. While the music was first released by YG and Interscope, she has now expanded her wings and taken her solo journey to new heights. Many people believe a new beginning to be the start of something better, but Jennie had other intentions for ending 2023 on a high note. Taking advantage of the last few days of the year, she launched her exclusive label OA (Odd Atelier) in December 2023.

Jennie also returned to her long-awaited variety show, Apartment 404, in February of this year. Speaking about her comeback to variety shows, she said, “I normally liked investigative stories and I decided to star [on the show] after hearing that cast and staff members I like will be working together. Since this is my first variety show in a while, I think this will be a nice gift to fans.”
