Yuzvendra Chahal plays for RCB in the IPL and he is one of the most successful bowlers of RCB. He tops the RCB’s list of highest wicket-takers in almost every season. He has been playing for Bangalore since 2014 under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. He started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians but he was mostly seen warming the bench.
When asked about a franchise he sees himself playing for if not RCB in a Q&A with Crictracker, Chahal picked the team Chennai Super Kings. Considering the sort of environment CSK has for spinners, it isn’t much of a surprise that the Yuzvendra Chahal picked the MS Dhoni-led side. Even while playing for the Indian team, Dhoni’s guidance behind the wicket was seen to be helping Chahal’s performance. Therefore, even in the IPL, he has naturally expressed his desire to play under Dhoni’s leadership.
This season in IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 4 wickets in 7 matches with an economy rate of 8.26. But the IPL was postponed after 29 matches due to the Covid-19. The remaining 31 matches of the IPL will now be played in the UAE in September-October, so Chahal will have a good time to improve his performance. At that point, Chahal will regain his form and try to help RCB win the title.
Both Indian and RCB fans will hope that Chahal gets his form back. Chahal’s performance will also be important for Team India in this year’s T20 World Cup.
In his IPL career, Chahal has taken 125 wickets in 106 matches at an economy rate of 7.70.
