Claes Bang joins the cast of ‘The Offenders’ produced by BBC/Amazon

The series, created and directed by English actor, comedian, director, presenter, and writer Stephen Merchant has been making news since the shooting began last year

Claes Bang, the Danish actor, who’d previously starred in BBC and Netflix’s reboot of the classic Dracula, and Paula van der Oest’s The Bay of Silence, is all set to appear in the BBC/Amazon comedy series The Offenders. Bang will be portraying the role of Dean, the terrifying and mysterious gang boss in London who is out chasing a debt owed by the offenders. The series, which is currently under production in Bristol, will be directed by director, comedian, and actor Stephen Merchant.

Bang will be seen along with actors like Christopher Walken, Rhianne Barreto, Gamba Cole, Darren Boyd, Clare Perkins, Eleanor Tomlinson, Richard E. Grant, Dolly Wells, and Julia Davis, including the director of the series Merchant himself. This assembly of an eye-catching ensemble has got fans excited for the release of the series, which has been renewed for a second season while the first season has still not been shot completely.

Created by Stephen Merchant and Elgin James, the series follows the story of seven strangers from different aspects of life who are forced together to complete a community payback sentence in the city of Bristol. Walken will be seen playing Frank, an inveterate scoundrel who is trying to reconnect with his family, and Merchant plays Greg, a lawyer coping with his divorce, workplace bullying, and other terrifying elements commonly found in and around Bristol.

The series is set to premiere later this year on platforms BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Amazon Prime Video in the United States, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. On a deal brokered with Amazon Studios, BBC Studios is in charge of handling global distribution.
