With the former pro wrestler holding the trophy, the cameras moved to Cristiano Ronaldo, who couldn’t stop smiling as he saw The Undertaker lifting the trophy.
Even though Ronaldo smiled before kickoff, he was sad after his club, Al-Nassr, lost 0–2 when the referee blew the final whistle. Sergej Milinlovic-Savic and Salem Al-Dawsari scored for Al-Hilal, but Ronaldo had little impact on the game.
The 39-year-old Portuguese athlete was named as the highest-paid athlete for the year 2023. In January 2023, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner signed a huge contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. By the end of last year, he made an astounding USD 275 million.
According to Sportico, Ronaldo topped the list, followed by golfer John Ram, who earned USD 203 million and Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi, who received USD 130 million. LeBron James, of the Los Angeles Lakers, is fourth on the list.
