Danish Iqbal opens up on playing Bade Sahab in Dhurandhar: The Revenge; recalls secrecy and early doubts

The mystery around Bade Sahab in Dhurandhar: The Revenge kept audiences guessing since the first instalment, but the sequel finally revealed the face behind the name. Actor Danish Iqbal has now been introduced as fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, and his performance has quickly become a talking point online.

In an interview with HT City, Iqbal shared how he came on board for the project. He recalled receiving a call from casting director Mukesh Chhabra’s office and agreeing almost instantly, given the strength of the character. However, once the process began, he realised the responsibility attached to portraying such a well-known figure, especially considering the expectations audiences often carry from past portrayals.

The actor also spoke about maintaining secrecy around his role. He explained that keeping such details hidden is a crucial part of filmmaking, ensuring that viewers experience the story as intended. Despite repeated questions and speculation from people around him, he chose not to reveal anything and asked them to wait for the film’s release.

Before the official reveal, rumours suggested that actors like Salman Khan or Emraan Hashmi might be playing Bade Sahab. These reports briefly made Iqbal question whether he had been replaced. While he trusted the process and his director Aditya Dhar, he admitted that such doubts are natural.

Iqbal added that even he was unsure about the character’s identity at one point, highlighting the uncertainty actors often face despite being part of the project.
