Karla Sofía Gascón is facing backlash after an old tweet resurfaced, allegedly targeting her Emilia Pérez co-star, Selena Gomez.
According to The Latin Times, Gascón reportedly called Gomez a “rich rat” in a since-deleted 2022 post on X while discussing her rumored feud with Hailey Bieber. The tweet, which quoted a post about Gomez and Bieber at the Academy Museum Gala, allegedly accused the singer of playing the victim and interfering in her ex-boyfriend’s marriage.
This controversy comes as Gascón’s past social media activity is being scrutinized. She has previously faced criticism for comments related to Muslim culture, George Floyd, and other topics.
On January 30, Gascón issued an apology via People magazine, acknowledging that her past posts had “caused hurt.” She stated, “As someone in a marginalized community, I know this suffering all too well and I am deeply sorry to those I have caused pain.”
Despite the backlash, Gascón remains in the spotlight for her role in Emilia Pérez, where she stars alongside Gomez.
