Dinesh Karthik, the former captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders confirmed that his KKR teammate Pat Cummins won’t be available for the remaining fixtures of the 14th edition of the IPL which is yet to happen in the UAE.
Speaking to ‘TOI’, Dinesh Karthik made it clear that the Australian fast bowler has confirmed his unavailability for the rest of the tournament. But, Karthik also mentioned that things can change once the tournament commences. Adding to this, he also stated that he’s ready to lead the side if KKR’s captain Eoin Morgan misses a flight to the UAE.
On the other hand, Pat Cummins reunited his pregnant wife on the 31st of May after weeks of travel and quarantine due to the suspension of the IPL. Although Cummins has not spoken anything about his decision to rejoin the KKR side for the UAE leg, it is understood that the cricketer wants to spend more time with his wife on behalf of her pregnancy.
The 28-year-old Australian pacer was leading the KKR’s bowling unit in the Indian leg of IPL 2021. He picked nine wickets in seven games and also scored a quick-fire half-century. Hence, his absence could hurt the two-time champions big time. However, the Shah Rukh Khan-owned side didn’t enjoy a great time in this year’s IPL.
