‘Do it without fear’: SA’s Tabraiz Shamsi Supports Ravichandran Ashwin On ‘Mankading’

Though there is no rule against the ‘Mankading’ in the cricketing books, this act is always termed to be against the ‘spirit of the game’ and Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is criticized for practicing this act on one of the occasion.  Hence, South African cricketer Tabraiz Shamsi who supports this act came in support of the  Indian cricketer as he feels there’s no ‘foul play’ doing this.

Shamsi took his Twitter and said, “I think all bowlers should do it (the dismissal) without any fear.. it’s within the rules of the game. Why must the bowlers get abused about the “spirit of cricket” when it’s actually the batsmen that are stealing yards and THAT is against the spirit of cricket That’s the real truth,” SA’s Shamsi stated this quoting to the tweet of Ashwin’s where the Indian cricketer has written about the mental trauma a bowler has to go through should one punish the batter for gaining an unfair advantage.

Ashwin is criticized for showing England cricketer Jos Buttler the way to the pavilion as he ran out the English batsman in a similar fashion during the 2018 edition of the IPL game between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.

Also, the Indian spinner had recently suggested that a new rule should be made where a bowler gets a ‘free ball’ and 10 runs should be deducted from the bowler’s figures whenever a batsman leaves the crease even before a ball is bowled.

“Let’s add a free ball for the bowlers every time a batter leaves the non-striker’s end early, a wicket of that ball will reduce 10 runs off the bowler’s analysis and total,” Ashwin had tweeted.
