In regards to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) 12th board examinations, the Ministry of Education has recently sought detailed suggestions from the states and union territories on the proposal discussed during a high-level meeting held on the same.
This has resulted the government to come up with three alternatives:-
A. Holding exams only for major subjects
B. Holding exams in a few formats including short answer-type questions.
C. Assessing students based on their performance in the past three years.
Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Education Minister, suffered post Covid complications and was admitted to AIIMS. According to a few AIIMS officials, Pokhriyal was brought to the hospital today morning at 11:30am.
The Centre had informed the Supreme court of India that it will take a final call on whether to conduct class 12 exams amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The decision was to be taken within the next two days.
The CBSE had put up the proposal of conducting the exams between July 15 – August 26 and the results for the same to be declared in the month of September. While on the other hand the FICCI wrote to the Central Government, requesting to cancel class 12th board examination, cautioning them about the ongoing situation due to Covid-19 and mentioning that it is not favourable for conducting a physical examination.
The CBSE is more likely to proceed with physical class 12 board examination in a limited number of core subjects and the exams shall be conducted in the same school where the students are studying.
