Farmers’ protest: Additional security deployed on railway stations owing to ‘rail roko’

As the farmers’ protest enters another new day with farmers union organizing a nationwide ‘rail roko’ on Thursday, additional security forces have been deployed across the four protesting states. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), has organized this event from 12 pm to 4 pm today to build pressure on the government.

The rail routes, in the interim, have ventured up security to avoid any adverse occurrence. Extra forces have been positioned across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) has placed an additional 20 companies across the four states. Security is deployed at Ghaziabad Junction already.

Arun Kumar, director-general, RPSF, said, “I appeal to everyone to maintain peace. We will be liaisoning with district administrations and will have a control room in the place.”
