Fire breaks out at South Delhi, on Saturday morning

On Saturday morning, a massive fire broke out at a showroom at South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar Central Market. The officials informed that they received a call from I- block in the Central Market around 10:20 am. Thereafter, 30 fire tenders along with several ambulance  were hurried to the accident spot.

As per reports, a more than 70 firefighters have been employed at the spot to extinguish the fire.

“The fire spread from the showroom to other areas and we are trying to control it,” informed Atul Garg, Delhi Fire Service chief. He further assured that there has been no causalities reported as yet. Firemen and policies working in the spot confirmed that they are inspecting if there is anyone left inside the showroom.

 

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal  informed, “Fire trucks have reached the spot, rescue and relief operations are underway. I am continuously monitoring the situation and I am in touch with Delhi Fire Department officials,” through a tweet.

 

As far visuals from the spot are concerned, black smoke engulfed the area. An eyewitness informed ‘India Today’ that the showroom comprised of multi brand clothes and watches and other items that can catch fire quite easily. As yet, it is assumed that the fire began through an electric fault  in the showroom on ground floor and later escalated to the other floors.
