FM Nirmala Sitharaman says fuels price hike a “vexatious issue”

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the hike in fuel prices is a “vexatious issue” on February 20. She also suggested that the Centre and State governments should have a conversation about the matter and “bring down the retail fuel price at a reasonable level for consumers.”

“It’s a vexatious issue in which no answer except for fall in fuel price will convince anyone,” Sitharaman said. She also touched upon the fact that the Centre and States are both generating a fair share of revenue from the sales of petrol and diesel at such rates.

On Saturday, Petrol prices rose by 39 paise taking the rate over 90 per litre and Diesel was selling at 80.97 per litre in Delhi.

In Madhya Pradesh, Congress leaders observed a half-day bandh opposing the hike in fuel prices.
