Former Arsenal, Middlesbrough and West Bromwich keeper, Alan Miller dies at age 51

Alan Miller began his career at Arsenal as a schoolboy in 1984 and signed a professional contract four years later. He went on to make 103 appearances got West Bromwich and 64 for Middlesbrough in his career. He helped the Teeside club to promotion to the Premier League in 1995. He retired in 2003 after suffering from a back injury. 

He spent three years at West Brom from 1997-2000 and later on joined Blackburn Rovers, he was part of the team that won the 2002 league cup. He also had stints with Birmingham City and St Johnstone before retiring from the game in 2002.

West Brom said that the club was “desperately saddened” to hear the news of Miller’s passing away. Middlesbrough also said that they are sad about his passing away and their thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

Former Arsenal midfielder David Hillier also said that Miller was a good friend and a teammate. He further said he has been taken away very soon. His former teammate at Arsenal, Lee Dixon also said, “devastated to hear the news that his teammate Alan Miller passed away, he said that he was one of life’s good guys. Heart of gold, RIP my friend”.
